Open The Door plans some great action in the Tytherington community during Dementia Action Week 21st – 27th May.
We’ve been linking with Marlborough Primary School, raising awareness of Dementia with the primary school children. The children have been working through information together & painting stones showing the Dementia Friends logo of a blue flower. They’ll be planting the stones around the school, in the parks, pathways, so we hope that people will keep a look out for them, post pictures on social media & that there will be some conversations brought about by finding them.
Greenhills Preschool will be visiting the Open The Door MemoriesTime group on May 22nd, joining in with activities, & singing some nursery rhymes with actions. A great morning of sharing for all age groups together with some singing, refreshments & fun!
Children from our Wednesday morning PlayTime session will also be planting painted stones around the community for people to find & ‘re-hide’, spreading the word about our MemoriesTime group & all the work being done in Tytherington to become more ‘Dementia Friendly’.
MemoriesTime runs fortnightly on Tuesday mornings 10.00am – 11.30am, & everyone is welcome, particularly anyone who is feeling isolated, including those with Dementia & their carers. The group has great benefits for those recovering from strokes & is very uplifting with our music & singalong sessions.
